The day before surgery the patient will undergo pre-operative preparation and assessment. The surgery takes place the following day, lasting approximately 4 hours under general anaesthetic. After 5 days of bedrest and post-operative care, the patient is gradually mobilised and is fit to return home after a total of 10 days at the hospital.

All of our London gender reassignment team have extensive experience of caring for pre- and post- operative transsexual patients. To ensure the continuity of first-class care, Mr Inglefield makes daily visits to patients during their stay in hospital and is involved in every step of the way with their care and welfare, from the immediate post-operative period to the follow-up consultation 8 weeks after the operation.
