Nocturnal Airway Obstruction Treatment London

A common procedure for nocturnal airway obstruction is the evaluation of the airway by performing a dynamic airway endoscopy. This allows the airway of the patients to be visualised & pictures can be taken to determine the sites of airway obstruction & snoring generation. This procedure is performed under a light general anaesthetic allowing the patient to "sleep" & generate the conditions as near as possible to normal sleep. The results this yielded allows for further treatment options to be discussed with patients. Further procedures for sleep related breathing disorders include Laser assisted palatal, tonsillar & tongue base surgery. These are usually performed under a short GA & the area in question is carefully removed with laser surgical approach.
