Mr Kovacs received his training in breast cancer surgery and surgical oncology at the National Institute of Oncology from Budapest. He proceeded in further training in breast reconstruction and oncoplastic mentorship at South Manchester University Hospitals and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital Breast Units.
Between 2005 and 2010 Mr Kovacs was Consultant and Lead Clinician at Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales. During this time he developed and established a new breast reconstructive service and promoted innovative techniques in breast cancer management. During these years he achieved excellent clinical outcomes and high patient satisfaction by establishing the Sentinel Node Biopsy technique and offering immediate and delayed reconstructive options (implant based and LD flap reconstructions) for his patients.
He has recently moved to Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust where he is a Consultant Breast and Oncoplastic surgeon providing care for patients with symptomatic breast problems and screen detected breast malignancies.
In his private practice Mr Kovacs is offering specialist consultation for women or men with breast symptoms providing advice and treatment for all breast problems as well as a routine breast screening service.
Mr Kovacs’ ethos and goal is to offer individually tailored care for his patients taking into consideration their needs and personal choice.
Mr Kovacs believes in the evidence-based approach to breast cancer management, focusing on principles of surgical oncology and oncoplastic surgery, where cosmetics are just as important as the efficient treatment of disease.
